Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This page explains exactly what Mouse-Jiggler.com stores in your browser, and how to change your mind about it. It sits alongside our privacy policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise the same browser on a later request. Related technologies - local storage and session storage - do something similar but keep the data in the browser rather than sending it with every request. We use both, and this page covers them together.
Categories we use
1. Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to function and are set without consent, because the site cannot work without them.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mj_consent |
Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so the banner is not shown on every page. | Until you clear browser storage |
PHPSESSID |
Cookie | Set only on the contact page. Holds the answer to the anti-spam question while you fill the form in. | Session (deleted when the browser closes) |
2. Analytics
Set only after you press Accept. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which articles get read.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not double-counted. | Up to 2 years | |
_ga_<container-id> |
Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. | Up to 2 years |
3. Advertising
This site may display advertising. Advertising cookies are set only after you accept them, and they may be used by Google and its partners to measure ad performance and to show more relevant ads. Typical names include IDE, test_cookie and __gads, with durations from a single session up to around two years, depending on the vendor.
How consent is enforced
We use Google Consent Mode v2. When a page loads, analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are all set to denied by default. They are switched to granted only if you press Accept on the banner or previously accepted. If you decline, they stay denied, and the tags gather nothing that identifies you.
Changing or withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time:
- On this site: clear the site data for mouse-jiggler.com in your browser settings. The banner reappears on your next visit and you can choose again.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific site, or block third-party cookies entirely.
- At Google: personalised advertising can be turned off at Google Ads Settings, and Analytics can be blocked entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Declining cookies does not restrict anything on this site. The mouse jiggler tool, the timer, and every article work identically either way.
Questions
